Registration Pathways
Full membership
Full membership is for practitioners who meet the Register’s education and practice requirements and who hold appropriate insurance.
In the Irish context, once a graduate is fully qualified, they would ordinarily apply for full membership. Ongoing professional development would then continue through CPD and normal professional responsibilities.
Student membership
Student membership is for those currently enrolled in recognised training. Students remain under the structures, supervision, and clinical requirements of their college or training provider where relevant.
This category allows students to engage with the Register while they are still in training.
Associate membership
Associate membership may be suitable for practitioners who are qualified but not currently practising, for practitioners whose qualifications are undergoing equivalence assessment, and for others whose relationship to the Register does not sit within full registrant status.
It is not intended as a route for graduates who are ready for full membership.
“Mapping of overseas qualifications” means comparing a qualification gained outside Ireland against the Register’s own entry requirements, to see whether the level of training, clinical practice, and supporting evidence are broadly equivalent.
